A Perfect Day Near Hôtel de la Marine: A Gentle Paris Itinerary
In this fifth chapter of the series, we step into a day shaped by quiet beauty, gentle pacing, and the soft Parisian glow that settles over art, gardens, and cafés. This itinerary reflects a sovereign, unhurried approach to travel, one that favors poetic living over checklist tourism. Each stop is chosen for its grace, calm, and creative spirit. Consider this guide an invitation to wander, savor, and let Paris reveal herself slowly.
A Curated Day Near Hôtel de la Marine
For me, a perfect day includes quiet spaces (little to no crowds), romantic and inspired places, beauty, gardens, books, coffee, and a light meal.
I prefer a pace that is calm and easy, not rushed.
And I enjoy and find peace in surroundings that include nature, art, history, and a spot or two where I can relax and reflect on my experiences.
Note that this itinerary is intended for walking. You do not need transportation.
Shannon’s Itinerary
Café Kitsuné – Palais Royal Gardens
Above, I gave you a link to the Café Kitsune location nearest HDM, but I prefer this nearby spot in the Palais Royal gardens. It’s magical to wander among the flowers and statues with a coffee and madeline in hand.
Musée des Arts Décoratifs – Gift Shop Visit
Worthy of a visit of its own, I’d stop into the gift shop (free access) to see the latest collection of books (French and English), journals, and stationery. They always have a fascinating collection.
Lunch
I get so chilled in Paris during the winter months. If it’s cold and raining, I’d go to my favorite ramen place in all of Paris, Kodawari. For a splurge, right outside of Musée Arts Decoratifs, with a fabulous terrace overlooking the Tuileries and the Louvre Museum, is LouLou’s.
Hôtel de la Marine Visit
If it were me, I would try to time my lunch at the very beginning of service (12 PM), so I can get in and out quickly. I like to begin my tours at the monuments during the tail-end of the lunch period to avoid the crowds.
Gardens or Cocktails
If the weather was nice, I’d finish the afternoon with a stroll through the Tuileries and then drop down to the Seine River on my way back home. Raining and feeling a bit celebratory? I’d have a (Virgo!) cocktail at the new astrological bar at the Ritz Paris hotel.
