Caroline's Perfect Day In France

Caroline's Perfect Day In France

Takeaway coffee from Slake Coffee House, enjoyed next door at the Places des Jacobins. A stroll north through the farmer's market along the Saône River at the Quai St Antoine. Explore Vieux Lyon, breaking into the Traboules, or secret passageways and courtyards that litter our Renaissance Old Town. My favorite one is here.

Take the funicular up to the Fourvière Basilica to take in the view and discover one of the most beautiful churches in the world, covered in extravagant gold mosaics. Walk down the hill for lunch at the Food Traboule, an amazing food court filled with stalls from the city's coolest chefs.

Walk back across into the Presqu'Île and via Place Sathonay and the random Roman Amphitheater, climbing up the Pentes de la Croix-Rousse.

Enjoying a wine tasting in the Croix-Rousse at Lyon Wine Tastings with me!

Walk down through another Traboule, the Cour des Voraces. Wander the Presqu'Île till it's time for dinner at a classic Lyonnais Bouchon. I recommend Le Mercière and Café des Fédérations.

If you want to go out after, Elody's Pub is a tiny underground karaoke bar on the Saône, or you can always head to the banks of the Rhône to go clubbing on a riverboat, or a peniche.
