Hello Autumn in Paris: Your 5-Day Magical Journey - Day Five
𝗙𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗙𝗶𝘃𝗲-𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘀 𝗔𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗺𝗻 🍁 𝗜𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗿𝘆 - Day FIVE.
Day FIVE: Montmartre - Cemetery Vibes, Fall Colors, and Stroll through this Famous Paris Quartier.
Be sure to wear your walking shoes for this day! This plan has you walking up and down stairs and the hillside of this famous district.
10 AM - Epicerie Chez Amélie. I don't know why the name, as it's more of an antiques market than grocer. If they're open, poke around a bit, find a treasure, and then take the stairs down to the Montmartre cemetery. The entrance is at the bottom.
10 Rue Caulaincourt, 75018 Paris
10:30 AM - Hidden under the streets of Paris is my favorite cemetery in Paris. Why is it my favorite? Because of the CATS! 🐈 🐈⬛ As you wander farther into the grounds, keep an eye out for the kitties, who are lovingly cared for by the cemetery staff and a group of volunteers who created an association just for them. Luminaries including Nijinsky, Degas & Zola lie in this tree-lined burial ground opened in 1825. And in October & November, the cemetery comes alive with golden leaves, long shadows, and colorful mums as the groundskeepers prepare for All Saints day.
20 Av. Rachel, 75018 Paris
11:30 AM - You're still at the base of the Montmartre hill, and now we are going to skirt around the corner, only a block away from the cemetery, for a little photo opp moment in front of Moulin Rouge. How could you not?!
82 Bd de Clichy, 75018 Paris
12 PM - Time for lunch. I love La Couvée Montmartre for its fresh, affordable meals and excellent service. Tucked away on a quiet side street, this Insta-worthy restaurant has adorable decor inside and out. Their lunch deal includes an entree, plat et dessert for 24.90 euros. That's a great deal in Paris! With vegetarian, sharing plates, and fish on the menu, there's loads to choose from for everyone in your group.
Online reservations available.
32 Rue Véron, 75018 Paris
2 PM - I am taking you to Sacre Coeur via the Abbesses metro stop as the square is so adorable that you must steal a kiss in front of the I Love You Wall.
The Wall of Love is a love-themed wall of 40 square meters in the Jehan Rictus garden square in Montmartre, Paris, France. The wall was created in 2000 by artists Fédéric Baron and Claire Kito and is composed of 612 tiles of enameled lava, on which the phrase 'I love you' is featured 311 times in 250 languages.
Square Jehan Rictus, Pl. des Abbesses, 75018 Paris
3 PM - There's no right or wrong way to get to Sacre Coeur, but I generally take guests by way of Rue Yvonne le Tac as it's quite impressive to approach the church from the base of the hillside. You have two options - take the funiculaire up to the top or climb the stairs. You can guess which one I choose. 😉
PLEASE note that this and the Eiffel Tower are some of Paris's top pick pocket areas.
Pl. Saint-Pierre, 75018 Paris
4 PM - Place du Tertre is always on the top of the list when visiting this quartier. And while, yes, a bit touristic, it's awfully romantic here in the late afternoon as the long autumn light casts shadows against the artist stands, as they sit wrapped up in sweaters and scarves at their easels.
Pl. du Tertre, 75018 Paris
4:30 PM - Next, I am going to take you to a few photo opp spots.
Le Consulat is straight up the street from Place du Tertre.
18 Rue Norvins, 75018 Paris
Then take a right onto Rue des Saules to find La Maison Rose on the corner. 18 Rue Norvins, 75018 Paris
Continue onto quaint Rue de l'Abreuvoir, with its sweet houses. This cobblestone street is a favorite for photographers.
Take the staircase at the end, next to the Dalida bust (Les escaliers de la rue Girardon), and then an immediate right onto Rue Saint-Vincent. This is where you'll find the colossal ivy wall seen in some Insta photos. It changes colors throughout the autumn, eventually into a brilliant shade of red.
5:30 PM At this point, you'll be pretty tired as you've just scaled the entire Montmartre hillside. Grab a glass of wine, rest a bit, and wait out the Parisian rush hour.
If this is your last day in Paris, I always suggest one last activity to end the night: A taxi ride tour to the sparkling Eiffel Tower. Ahhhhhh, ma belle France!
