Hello Autumn in Paris: Your 5-Day Magical Journey - Day Two
𝗙𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗙𝗶𝘃𝗲-𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘀 𝗔𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗺𝗻 🍁 𝗜𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗿𝘆 - Day TWO.
Day Two: A Good Day for d'Orsay and Saint Germain des Pres! Food, art, coffee & more.
9 AM - Brunch it up, darlings! Who doesn't love to start their day with waffles and a latte?! With vegan & gluten-free options, @cuppacafeparis is a sweet little glass-front coffee shop that quickly fills up with Parisians and tourists in-the-know.
86 Rue de l'Université, 75007 Paris
10 AM - Cuppa is conveniently located just a block away from @museedorsay. Be sure to get your timed tickets in advance to skip the line.
What's on: The Sargent show was absolutely breathtaking and magnificent to see in person. I shared more in this recent post.
1 Rue de la Légion d'Honneur, 75007
12:30 PM - Time for lunch! About two blocks from the museum is @les_antiquaires_paris. With its benches padded in tan leather, pretty mirrors, & antique vibes, I love the affordable but classic Parisian bistro & French cuisine. It sets the tone after taking in all of that beautiful artwork.
There's also an exterior terrace on a relatively quiet sidewalk, perfect for soaking in those long fall shadows and sunlight. Online reservations available!
2:30 PM - Let's pop into Église de Saint-Germain-des-Prés next. Site of Rene Descartes' tomb, this church is an 11th-century reconstruction of an earlier monastery. It holds a special place in my heart as I donated to their ceiling restoration project. Don't miss those beautiful stars!
While it's overly touristic, the famous Deux Magot is across the street. I don't recommend eating here. But it's fun to get a hot chocolate with chantilly whipped creme and sit on the terrace to people-watch!
3 Pl. Saint-Germain des Prés, 75006
3:30 PM - I am working you up to Jardin du Luxembourg so you can enjoy golden hour amongst the falling leaves in this to-die-for Parisian garden. Don't miss the Medici fountain at this time of the year - the autumn leaves floating on the water, and the stunning floral urns are breathtaking.
If you've already seen the d'Orsay show or that doesn't interest you, an alternative option is the lesser known Musée du Luxembourg, located at the gardens. It doesn't have a permanent collection, so when it does open for a show, they're rather spectacular and well-curated. I also love that the museum doesn't take long to walk through.
19 Rue de Vaugirard, 75006 Paris
5 PM - For me, autumn is also a time to enjoy loads of books in cozy nooks. Buying a book in Paris is a unique way to remember your experience and is also a lovely gift. The @theredwheelbarrowbookstore is an English shop directly across the street of JDL. They have two stores here, one dedicated to children's and one to adult books.
