Perfect Days in France: Paris Cafés, Dordogne Villages & Wine

Perfect Days In France - Janelle Sweeny

Morning

I always like to start my day with coffee and because it's France and it's the perfect day, a pastry too. I would go to Dreamin Man for a flat white and pop round the corner to Utopie boulangerie to get a delicious pastry to accompany it.

Following the precious fuel, I would wander around Le Marais. Maybe pop into Musee Carnavelet, which I love. I love window shopping in the area and it's also the perfect place to take photos. Another favourite in Le Marais is Place des Vosges. I would pop here to rest my legs, soak up the sun and people watch.

Afternoon
Following lunch I would head to my favourite cafe - Le Peloton to get a coffee and to chat to friends. Even if it is your first time there, there is always someone to chat to. The baristas are super friendly, and it's a real anglophone hub. So if you are wanting to speak English for awhile, it's a lovely relief there.

I would spend the afternoon walking along the Seine, this is my absolute favourite place in Paris. I love the bridges, people watching, the architecture. It's all so amazing.

I would grab a vin rose and have a happy hour somewhere along the Seine in the sun. I often head to Les Nautes. Or if I was feeling okay to wait in a line, I would wait for a spot at the rooftop bar - Le Perchoir which is about BHV. There is also another one up in the 11th, and that one is often less busy. Maybe find an electric scooter and head there.

Evening

I would definitely have dinner at my favourite dinner place - Martin boire & manger. They do French style tapas and have an extensive organic wine list. Some of the best food I have eaten is at this place.

If I hadn't completely run out of energy by this time I would catch some late night jazz at Caveau de la huchette - it's well known for sure, but I have had so much fun at this place. The dancing is fab. And then finally I would walk home, strolling across the seine on my way back. I would take a moment to just stare out at the city of lights and the magic that is Paris at night!

Molly's Perfect Day In France

So here's what I would recommend for the perfect day in France.

A day in Dordogne! We were there two years ago for summer vacation and I still remember it as one of my favorite places/vacations! There's so much to see and do!!!

Peruse the Brocante at Brantôme Abbey - It takes over the whole town center each week!

Lunch at : Relais & Châteaux - Le Vieux Logis - Dordogne.

Check out some of the grottes/caves like, Gouffre de Proumeyssac or Rouffignac Cave.

Dinner : Château de la Treyne - outside at a section that juts out over the river from high up above - incredible!

Plus wine!
